A new concert hall for the Brno Philharmonic has arrived. For the time being, of course, in miniature, but as an absolutely faithful copy. It arrived at the exhibition grounds in Brno today, where a team led by global acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota will carry out acoustic measurements and check its calculations.
Rehearsal rooms, stores, a recording studio, tuning rooms and dressing rooms for the musicians, a box office, café and other facilities for visitors, and in particular a modern concert hall with the perfect acoustics. The Janáček Cultural Centre will be all this. The city is another step closer to its construction – Phase 2 of the project, following on from the already-completed underground garages, has received final planning permission.
Nagata Acoustics America, Konior Studio and Architekti Hrůša & spol., Atelier Brno. That is the team which will supply a project documentation for building permit and a project documentation for the above-ground part of Janáček Cultural Centre – the new home for Brno Philharmonic. „I am so happy we finally know the winner! The competitive tendering was very demanding and complicated“ says Mayor of Brno Petr Vokřál. „I am very satisfied with the winning company – Nagata is one of the most recognized acoustic companies of the world.“
The City of Brno has concluded the qualifying round for the design team of the Janáček Cultural Centre, comprising acoustics specialist – architect – designer, which will be designing the building’s interior layout, in particular the concert hall itself. Of four candidates, two qualified for the competitive round. The first of these is the trio comprising Nagata Acoustic America, Konior Studio and Architekti Hrůša & spol., Atelier Brno.
‘A memorandum of co-operation in preparing and implementing the “Janáček Cultural Centre” project’. At one o’clock today, Minister of Culture Daniel Herman, Brno Mayor Petr Vokřál and South Moravian Governor Michal Hašek signed a document with this title. As representatives of the state, city and Region, the document commits them to co-operate with each other, and in particular to fund the construction of a new concert hall in Brno.
